The big blow of the game came in the 3rd inning when Tommy Davis clobbered a two run shot off of eventual loser Ray Sadecki (1-7). This gave LA a 3-0 lead at the time. Game 2 was a complete blowout. Dodger hurler Don Drysdale had nothing and was gone by the end of the 5th after giving up 11 runs (10 earned). Conversely Cardinal starter Bob Gibson was on. Gibson tossed 8 innings of shutout ball and struck out 3. Ron Taylor came in to finish it out.

Game 3 was Johnny Podres' time to shine. The 1955 World Series MVP turned back the clock and posted a complete game shutout of the Cardinals. The Dodger offense posted 3 runs (all in the 6th) off of Cardinal starter Glen Hobbie. The game was played in a cool 2 hours and 3 minutes.
