HOME BRACKETS COACHES RESULTS RULES

2002 Cincinnati Bengals 30, 1992 Seattle Seahawks 0 Corey Dillon (pictured) ran for almost 160 yards while the Seahawk offense never got on track.  Coach Chris Harris felt fortunate to have gotten as far as he did and looks forward to the next tournament.  Coach Ed Mikhli feels like he righted the ship and believes Cincy can beat anyone left in the tourny.
1992 NE Patriots 31, 1981 Baltimore Colts 22:  This game was a lot closer than the final score indicated.  In fact New England was trailing until Vincent Brown (pictured) picked off Bert Jones and returned it for 57 yard and a go ahead TD.  Jones threw 3 picks and basically took his team out of contention.  Brown also chipped in with 9 solo tackles and one huge stuff..
1974 NY Giants 24, 1971 Buffalo Bills 10 This was a costly victory for Big Blue.  QB Norm Snead went down for 7 games virtually assuring he'll miss the tournament.  Deep threat Walker Gillette went down 2 plays later and will miss approx 2 games.  Then on the defensive side of the ball star LB Brad Van Pelt went down for a game.  The Giants jumped out to a 17-0 lead and basically hung on the rest of the day without their 3 stars.  John Mendenhall (pictured) was the defensive star recording 2 late sacks and 4 tackles plus 1 key fumble recovery to stymie Buffalo's comeback.
1951 NY Yankees 28, 1966 NY Giants 7:  Coach Ed Mikhli put all his eggs (bad Easter joke) into one basket and let George Taliaferro (pictured) carry it to victory.  The "Big T" has been the focal point of the Yankees offense as he logged 113 yards on 17 carries and 2 huge TD's.  The Yankees defense "contained" (if you can call it that) Homer Jones and allowed him 6 receptions for 143 yards and 1 TD, basically making him the Giants only offensive weapon..
2001 Detroit Lions 35, 1981 NE Patriots 10 Todd Lyght (pictured) and the Detroit defense frustrated NE's passers and closed off their vaunted short passing attack all afternoon.  Coach Shelton had a masterful game plan and now moves on to face the 1962 Vikings in the winners bracket final.  Lyght had a 92 yard INT return for a big TD that set the pace early.
1962 Minnesota Vikings 38, 1979 SF 49ers 17:  Vikings coach Jeff Abramcyzk had to choose which of his two teams he would coach.  From the result of the score it looks like he picked correctly.  Francis Lewis Tarkenton (pictured) showed glimpses of his future HOF form by going 15 for 19 for 303 yards and 4 TD passes.  For the first time in the tournament Jeff didn't have to rely on the "nimble one's" legs or his defense.
